PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION AND NOTE CHANGES!

Because so many of you have shown an interest in becoming certified in Wilderness First Aid, our instructor has modified the course so that it will be two longer days (9:00 AM- 7:00 PM) but will be available to first-time attendees and those with expired certifications as well as those wishing to re-certify. If you are certifying for the first time, you must attend in person. We will practice social distancing, and masks must be worn. The training will take place at the Friends of Gold Butte visitor center, 12 W. Mesquite Blvd, Suite 106. We will still record these sessions so if, and ONLY IF you are re-certifying, you may attend via Zoom. We know these changes and restrictions are cumbersome, but we are trying to accommodate as many people as possible, as comfortably as possible.

Charyn McDonnell has graciously agreed to provide this training, and there will be no charge except for the actual Red Cross card. All supplies will be provided to you, if you choose to attend in person. We will adhere to Covid-19 rules, in that social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn. You will need to bring your own PPE, lunch, snacks and plenty of water. We will break for lunch approximately mid-way through each day.

It has been a long time since Friends of Gold Butte has had any outdoor activities, due to the summer heat and also Covid-19 restrictions. We do plan to hold hikes, trash clean-ups and other outdoor activities this fall and it is FoGB’s policy that each outdoor activity have a minimum of one Red Cross WFA certified person present at any of our activities.

We encourage any volunteers who wish to do so to become certified, even if you do not feel like leading hikes at this time. We organize this training every two years, so please consider attending the certification training this fall if you are able.
