If you’d like to volunteer with the Friends of Gold Butte but would still like to practice social distancing, this opportunity is perfect for you! Be a Road Monitor! Road monitoring is important because of the size and scope of the monument; it is difficult for BLM staff to keep up with the road conditions so that’s where volunteers can really help. While you’re out exploring areas of interest to you, you simply take note of abnormal conditions and report them via the forms provided. Often minor repairs can be performed by volunteers but in the case of severe washouts or other adverse conditions, reporting them allows the BLM to take care of such issues with more efficiency.
Attend this virtual training course for FoGB volunteers collecting road monitoring data in Gold Butte National Monument. We will discuss instructions for completing and submitting monitoring forms to ensure consistency and clarity. This course will be presented via Microsoft Teams by Jimmy Linares from the BLM, and you are encouraged to join us for this short presentation. Once you sign up via Meetup, you will be sent the link and instructions to participate.
