Join the Friends of Gold Butte as we learn about the Desert Tortoise and how this species can adapt to changes in their habitat resulting from desert wildfires. Matt Flores from the Nevada Division of Wildlife will discuss this amazing icon of the Mojave Desert and how wildfires and the resulting non-native grasses affect these animals as they attempt to survive the already harsh conditions in which they live. Matt will also share how NDOW’s program of planting native seeds can positively impact the desert ecosystem.
