Here’s why: These spectacular public lands south of Mesquite contain stunning views of vast mountains and Lake Mead. It’s biological, cultural and historical treasures include Joshua tree and Mojave yucca forests, outcroppings of sandstone, slot canyons, rock art and historic mining and ranching artifacts. A designation of National Conservation Area and Wilderness will give this landscape the management and protection that it deserves.

You may know that the City of Mesquite, the Clark County Commission and the Paiute Tribes all have passed resolutions supporting a Gold National Conservation Area with Wilderness. And many of you have attended meetings or made calls to these elected officials. Well, it worked. Our community leaders support protecting Gold Butte, and now we need our members of Congress to act on this groundswell of local support and do their part.
