The Friends of Gold Butte are pleased to introduce Mesquite resident Herb White as our newest board member. Herb brings a wealth of enthusiasm and experience to our board, often volunteering for various projects and we are excited to have him.
Herb is originally from Kansas City, Missouri. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Susan, and has four sons and five grandchildren. He earned a BS Degree at Northwest Missouri State University with majors in Psychology and English. His employment history includes teaching English and drama, management consulting, 25 years in Human Resources, and five years co-owning and operating Susan’s Garden, a community supported organic farm. He has served on the Board of Directors of the St. Joseph Society of Human Resources, the St. Joseph Safety Council, and Acoustics Development Corporation, a manufacturing firm where he also served as Vice President of Human Resources.
Herb and Susan love camping and hiking, and in their younger years backpacked in such places as Montana, Canada and Alaska. Their youngest son has lived in Mesquite for 20 years, and in 2016, they moved here to join him. They brought their love of wild places with them, and enjoy spending as much time hiking and camping in Gold Butte as possible. They are both retired, and consider themselves full time desert rats. They have been members of FoGB since they moved here, and Herb is excited to serve on the BOD and share his enthusiasm for Gold Butte with everyone who loves wilderness.
