PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!
This is an opportunity for you to become certified in Wilderness First Aid. The training will be three days, Friday October 29, from 6-9pm; Saturday October 30 from 9am -5pm; and Sunday October 31 from 9am-5pm. You must attend the entire training to become certified. In addition, you must have at some point taken a basic First Aid course and be able to prove it, by providing a certificate, card or other document, even if expired. There are several online Basic First Aid courses that you can take to accomplish this very reasonably, but you must provide documentation.
This course is not a re-certification, it is the entire Wilderness First Aid, and you will receive a Red Cross certificate upon completion. You must attend in person. We will practice social distancing, and masks must be worn. The training will take place at the Friends of Gold Butte visitor center, 12 W. Mesquite Blvd, Suite 106 on Friday and Saturday, and we will spend Sunday practicing scenarios at an outdoor location to make it more realistic. We know these restrictions are cumbersome, but we are trying to accommodate as many people as possible, as comfortably as possible.
Charyn McDonnell has graciously agreed to provide this training, for a reduced fee of $50.00, which will include you the Red Cross card and all supplies. We will adhere to Covid-19 rules, in that social distancing will be practiced and masks must be worn. You will need to bring your own PPE, lunch, snacks and plenty of water. We will break for lunch approximately mid-way through each day.
It is our policy that FoGB’s outdoor activities always have a minimum of one Red Cross WFA certified person present, and it is expected that if you take this course you will in turn volunteer with Friends of Gold Butte- not necessarily to lead hikes, but as a sweep, helper or other role, just to have a trained person present.
Please provide a phone number when registering so we can contact you with additional information or in case of schedule changes.
