Join Steve Dudrow and the Friends of Gold Butte as we hike/scramble up Whitney Pocket Wash and into what some of us unofficially call “Gold Butte’s Bowl of Fire”. Please note this is not to be confused with Lake Mead’s Bowl of Fire. It consists of beautiful red cliffs. The hike will be about 4 mile round-trip and you can call it moderate. We will meet at 9:00 am at the junction of Gold Butte Road and Highway 170 and caravan to the trailhead. The road is roughly paved, and 4WD is not required. All of our hikes are free and open to the public.
Please be sure and bring plenty of water, a lunch/snacks for yourself, hand sanitizer and wear sunscreen, weather-appropriate clothing, closed-toed shoes and a hat. A walking stick may be helpful, and masks will be required when in close proximity of others. Due to Covid-19, we are currently not offering carpooling and attendees will not be permitted to carpool from the Meetup if they did not arrive in the same vehicle.
Please, if you register for one of our activities and then find that you are unable to attend, let a coordinator know in sufficient time to allow someone on the waitlist to attend. We understand that emergencies happen, but please try and let us know at least 48 hours in advance if possible.
