Part of the fun of spending time in public lands is gazing at the night sky with the Milky Way and millions of stars overhead. With so much going on in the sky how can you make sense of it all? The good news is, you can learn the basics in your own backyard, and without large telescopes or dark skies. Jim Stanger with Friends of Sloan Canyon will introduce us to backyard astronomy with tips & tricks to navigate the night sky, gear needed to get started, and what to do if you want to take your viewing to the next level.
Friends of Gold Butte are pleased to present this program, presented by Jim Stanger. Jim is a recovering IT professional passionate about public lands conservation and education and conservation. He’s currently working on projects with Friends of Sloan Canyon, Friends of Walking Box Ranch, and Southern Nevada Conservancy.
