Join the Friends of Gold Butte as we learn more about desert plants. For those of you who attended our prior presentation about edible desert plants, this may be helpful information when deciding what you want to plant and/or consume!
We all know that gardening in the desert is quite a challenge! Besides the heat, low rainfall and poor soil, we have spiny and toxic plants, as well as harmful microorganisms and hazardous minerals in the soil. Gail Brandys, a University of Nevada Cooperative Extension Master Gardener and Certified Safety Professional, will review some of the physical, chemical and biological hazards that are most common for gardeners in Southern Nevada and provide helpful hints on how to protect yourself, your family and your pets.
