Join the Friends of Gold Butte as Charyn McDonnell starts the New Year off right with a scenic walkabout to two of Gold Butte’s most photographed sites! You do not have to be a photographer to join us, however, we are going bright and early to capture the lovely morning light on the Gold Butte Dunes and then on to Little Finland via the Corral trail. This is not a guided hike, but rather a opportunity for each of you to have some time to explore on your own at each location within a given amount of time.
Please wear weather-appropriate clothing, closed toed shoes, sunscreen and a hat. It will be chilly in the morning but may warm up later if we’re lucky. PPE and social distancing protocol will be followed, and please stay home if you’re feeling ill or have been exposed to Covid-19. You will need a snack or lunch for yourself, plenty of water and don’t forget your camera or camera phone!
Please also understand that we try to make our hikes and outings available to as many people as possible, and they are filled on a first-come, first-served basis through Meetup.
Please also understand that we are unable to offer carpooling at this time, due to Covid-19, so be sure you have an appropriately equipped high-clearance vehicle. We will meet at the Hwy 170/Gold Butte Road Kiosk at 7:00 AM. Yes, that is correct, 7:00 AM, Nevada time. What a great way to start off the New Year!
