Did you ever wonder what the name of a certain plant or animal was? Or where or when you saw it? Would you like to learn the names of our local flora and fauna? And who could you ask if you had a particular question about a butterfly or a cactus? The computer program/Application called iNaturalist can do all of that and more.

Join Frank Golden and the Friends of Gold Butte for a 90 minute class exploring the basics of using iNaturalist. Learn how you can unlock a powerful resource that will change how you see Mother Nature and all her creatures big and small.

For this class you will need to download the free iNaturalist app on your smart-phone, and create a free user account. And please bring your laptop computer or electronic tablet if you have one.

This class is conducted inside a classroom so you won’t have to deal with the weather or wildlife. The format consists of discussion, demonstrations, question/answers, and practical exercises all in a fun no stress atmosphere. Everyone gets an “A”.

On 2-5 May 2024, The BLM and the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW) is hosting a Bioblitz at Gold Butte National Monument. iNatualist will be the platform for documenting all wildlife observations.
