Gold Butte National Monument was designated by Presidential Proclamation on December 28, 2016. In January of 2017, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) announced that it was going to begin the process of drafting a management plan for the newly designated monument. But with the incoming Trump administration, that planning process was put on hold. In January 2018, the BLM again tried to initiate the planning process by including Gold Butte National Monument as part of a public comment period designed to collect input for a revision of the 2014 Draft Resource Management Plan (RMP) for the southern Nevada District, but Gold Butte was subsequently removed from comment solicitation on the day that public hearings started. This page offers resources to provide comments about the management plan for Gold Butte National Monument.
