Earth Day: Meet Gold Butte!
April 22 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm
This Earth Day we are putting together a range of guided and self guided hikes for you to better get to know Gold Butte National Monument. We will first all gather at Whitney Pocket.
If you would like a guided hike, Friends of Gold Butte Hike Leaders will meet you at Whitney Pocket and then take their groups to separate areas. The hikes will be of varying difficulty and remoteness. Hike destinations may include Amber Cat Canyon, Whitney Mesa, Falling Man or a one mile hike around Whitney Pocket.
If a self-guided hike is more your style, then stop at our information table at Whitney Pocket throughout the day. Someone from Friends of Gold Butte will be available at the table to give you information on various other hikes you might enjoy and give you directions on how to reach those areas.
• What to bring
Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather and remember that Spring weather can be unpredictable. Bring plenty of water and lunch or a snack to enjoy, and be sure to wear sunscreen and a hat. There is no cell service or toilets in Gold Butte, so come prepared.
We hope that you will come and join us on Earth Day, so we can celebrate this majestic planet by being outside in nature in this spectacular place we call Gold Butte.
