Ellen Seldin will present her short documentary film “60 million years” about the challenges of the Mojave Desert tortoise as told by the scientists that have studied this unique desert dweller over several decades. After a distinguished career as a physician, Ellen Seldin began her graduate work in Compositional Studies at Southern Methodist University in her quest to become an accomplished composer. It is during her graduate work that she created her documentary film. The short film will be followed by a discussion about the threats to desert tortoises and the outlook for its future. Mojave Desert USGS scientists, Dr Leslie DeFalco and Dr Todd Esque will be available for questions.
