As with anything, change is inevitable. And, so it is was both sadness for us and joy for Nancy that we let you know that Nancy has decided she would like to spend more quality time with her parents in Florida and is resigning from the Executive Director position in Friends of Gold Butte (FoGB).
Nancy has been with FoGB since its inception in 2003 and has been its leader since 2006. She has been the prime mover behind almost every activity and. Her feet are small but the shoes she will leave behind for us to fill are very large. FoGB’s Board of Directors is actively seeking to fill her shoes. It’s a daunting task but a necessary one for sure.
Our 2014-2015 educational series is already largely set and we are working on expanding the series to include presentations in Las Vegas. We will also be scheduling more outings and hikes once the weather cools down, likely late September. Ongoing, we will continue to have occasional informal get-togethers for coffee or pizza so you can meet fellow Gold Butte lovers and keep up with the latest happenings.
As you all know, Senator Reid and Congressman Horsford introduced companion bills early in this legislative session to designate Gold Butte as a National Conservation Area. Although we have strong support from both of them, your voice can carry a lot of weight. Please don’t be shy in calling or writing them to show that you support their efforts.
Lastly, we could not continue without the financial support of our members. None of us on the board enjoy soliciting for donations but it’s a part of keeping the effort alive. To all of you who are monthly donors – thank you! For those who aren’t, won’t you consider becoming a monthly donor today? It’s easy to do through either Paypal or Razoo and you have full control over the process at any time, now and in the future. Just visit our donation page to get started.
Nancy, best of luck to you and your family. You have carried a great load on your shoulders and have had many successes. Your legacy will be remembered as long as Gold Butte has friends and a long as there is a Friends of Gold Butte.
In conclusion, we have hard work and fun times ahead of us and with the help from you and all who care about Gold Butte and its future, WE WILL SUCCEED!
