National Public Lands Day
September 30 @ 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
Join the Bureau of Land Management, Friends of Gold Butte and Friends of Nevada Wilderness as we celebrate something we all share: public lands! From our neighborhood parks or beaches to our nation’s awe-inspiring national monuments, public lands are the places where we live, learn, play, exercise, and relax. In fact, over 30% of America’s land is public land. Now it’s your turn to give back!
We’ll meet in the morning, then split into teams to accomplish various projects throughout Gold Butte. We’ll rehabilitate fragile desert habitat, install signs for the Gold Butte Backcountry Byway, and re-enforce the boundary of Lime Canyon Wilderness. We will provide breakfast and snacks, so all you’ll need to bring is a water bottle, lunch and sunscreen for yourself. Plan to wear long pants, a long sleeve shirt, and wear sturdy, close-toed shoes. This project is limited to persons 16 years of age or older.
